DMA offers free airfares to Chicago conference

US readers qualify for free airfares to the DMA's 84th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, on 28-31 October.

The terrorist attack on New York has created a nightmare for conference organisers. Not only are some prospective delegates and speakers reluctant to travel, but the economic circumstances of many companies have changed overnight. Many conferences have been cancelled; others are going on, undeterred. One thing is certain, there will be fewer delegates than would have been the case.

One conference that is going on is the Direct Marketing Association (DMA)'s 84th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, on 28-31 October (see our Industry Events Section for details). In an unprecedented move to help direct and interactive marketers get their businesses back on track, and to encourage marketers to travel again, The DMA is offering free airfare with every new registration to the event. The offer is limited to travel within the continental U.S. and Canada on an American Airlines coach flight with a Saturday night stay, and is extended to individuals who register for the conference between September 11 and October 5, 2001. Registrants who do not wish to purchase a Saturday night stay will be offered a 50 percent discount off American Airline's best published fare. In addition, The DMA has renegotiated hotel rates to reduce the published rates by 20% per night at many of the conference hotels for all delegates registered after September 11, 2001.
