The UK-based AirMiles Travel Company is to tap into the UK's recent online shopping boom by launching a new online shopping site this summer with over thirty retailers including major high street names.

AirMiles Travel Company is teaming up with European provider of online marketing solutions, TradeDoubler, and Canadian partner marketing company, Plan B, to launch an online mall that will feature retailers including Dixons.co.uk, Curry's.co.uk, HMV.com, John Lewis Direct and Carphone Warehouse. Consumers will be able to collect AirMiles while shopping online at rates of up to 1 Air Mile for every £2 spent (approx. US$4).

According to Duncan Olby, Director of Strategy & Partnerships at The AirMiles Travel Company: "The AirMiles customers who collect AirMiles through a number of our many partners both on the high street and now with retailers online will reap the greatest rewards. And as an additional benefit, customers who pay using their NatWest or RBS credit card will earn miles at an even faster rate."

Sectors and retailers
The site will encompass eight sectors and host retailers include:

  • Books, CDs, DVDs and Games: HMV, CD WOW!
  • Clothing and accessories: Thomas Pink, La Senza & Austin Reed
  • Department stores: John Lewis Direct
  • Electrical and computing: Currys, Dixons, Dell, PC World & Apple store
  • Home and garden: The White Company & Heal's
  • Sports and leisure: Halfords & JD Sports
  • Telecoms: Carphone Warehouse
  • Business services: (to be announced)

Over six million customers currently collect AirMiles through its partners including Tesco, Shell, Southern Electric, Homebase and NatWest/Royal Bank of Scotland credit cards. The company offers a full travel service with more than 110 airlines, 25,000 hotels, cruises, travel insurance, car hire and package holidays from 100 tour operators. The travel service is open to both AirMiles collectors and non-collectors and customers can pay for their travel in three ways: miles alone; a combination of miles and money; or money alone - where they will earn MilesBack at the rate of 1 mile for every £5 spent.
